For the last few months over on Classic Castle we’ve been running a Lego Jambalaya, and as second-last on the list, the box finally arrived at my door.

Basically a jambalaya is started by someone putting spare/excess parts in a box and then sending it to someone else. That second person takes out what they want and puts in some new stuff, and so on and so on. As fourteenth on the list the box has been all over the US and Europe, so I was a little worried there wouldnt be much left, but there’s still loads of great stuff in there- a continued reminder of the generosity the community frequently displays. There’s uncommon polybags, out of print minifigs and some community customs too -and well crafted ones at that- things I dont normally go for. The photo on the left is what I took- none of it needed certainly, but things I can definitely find a use for in my building.

The photo on the right is what I put in. There’s some spares, some customs, some polybags i’d hoarded for five years- lots of pieces and items I dont use but know that someone else will. There’s some rare stuff too, but cliché aside, it’s the donating and giving to the jambalaya that’s the best bit- knowing someone else will be able to use those parts that you dont and find enjoyment from them.

The whole process has just reminded me I need to sort out my collection and actually organise what I have and havent. Eitherway, i’m without parts I don’t “need” and now with parts that I do. That’s pretty good!

This just arrived in the post. Quite possibly the biggest Lego box I have ever seen, unrelated minifig included for scale.

I’ve plans this weekend, but come Monday this bad boy is getting built!

Brama Point

Leaving first-mate Thrinn in charge of trading the goods back at the port, Lodi Windrun decides to explore and wander the town of Skraborg. Though familiar, he rediscovers the geography and landmarks of the town, before visiting Brama Point north of the town. Once the entrance to The Great Driftplains, it is now seen by many as the point of no return, the fallen columns lying in ruin a reminder to all would-be adventurers not to venture any further forward. It is here that Garhims stop and remember those fallen fleets and pioneers of times long past.

Return to Port Skraborg

Following a brave journey into the waves off the Skraborg Coast, Lodi Windrun and first mate Thrinn return in their vessel Njordadi safely and with a successful haul. Here Lodi tasks Thrinn with the selling and trading of their catch, inspected closely by the high-king’s trade inspector. Lodi, meanwhile, continues to care and craft the ship, slowly pondering over what and when the duo’s next adventure may be.

That’s right- I finally found a use for that Lego Buzz Lightyear minifig.

Fishing on the Skraborg coast

With the supply of fish running low across Garheim following the Royal Feast, the high-king Jhirian Eindrik has sent out numerous orders to all fishing merchants in the area, promising doubled-gold to all successful catches. Modest in operation yet efficient in delivery, Lodi Windrun and first-mate Thrinn set out across the dangerous snowy seas east of Skraborg, in pursuit of a fishy bounty.

A small boat -my first boat in 20 years!- built for the Lands of Classic Castle project. The MOC features the two characters i’m ‘playing’ as in the project. The water technique is influenced/used with permission by Mark of Falworth.

If anything at all could be made into Lego, what would you choose?

Castles and forests and mountains and probably, the way things are going atm, a giant Skyrim creation. A huge snowscape with towns and rivers and maybe even a dragon to terrorise all the minifigs :)
